Rekrytori for Internationals
Rekrytori for Internationals will be taking over the Cable Factory in Helsinki in late September. This recruitment event intended for international talent offers job-seekers the opportunity to meet employers looking for skilled employees. You can also learn more about guidance and advisory services to support you in your job search at the event.
The free-of-charge recruitment event will be held in Merikaapelihalli at the Cable Factory on Wednesday 25 September from 12.00 to 17.00. The event is intended for international talent, but it is open to anyone looking for work and students about to graduate.
At the event, you will have the chance to get to know employers and get support for your job search. Nearly 100 exhibitors, national/intenational employers, educational institutions and communities have signed up for the event.
– One of the aims of the event is to raise awareness among employers and the public of the fact that international talent is needed in Finland. Their demand will grow in the future, says City of Helsinki’s Director of Migration Affairs Glenn Gassen.
– The event is intended for anyone looking for work or education opportunities regardless of their educational background, work experience or language skills. People interested in entrepreneurship will also be able to find information at the event, Business Coordinator Hanne Suomalainen explains.
– Expect a laid back atmosphere, where potential employees can meet employers with a low threshold. The objective is to generate real encounters where skilled employees and employers can find perfect matches, the event’s producer Mikko Honkala says.
Despite the name of the event, it also offers tools for building a good life in Finland. Hobby and volunteer work opportunities to support integration will also be represented at the event.
The employers participating in the Rekrytori for Internationals event come from a variety of branches. Companies looking for skilled labour and organisations looking for researchers and PhD-level experts will both be represented at the event. Industries from ICT to the nursing sector will have a presence. Participating companies include Attendo, Wärtsilä, Nordea, OP Light Entrepreneur, Barona and Välkky HR, as well as Tulanet-affiliated research institutes, also the cities of the capital region in Finland. There are even jobs for those interested in becoming Santa Claus or one of his elves for the season.
The City of Helsinki Education Division and the municipalities and communities involved in organising the event will also be represented. Other participants include employers from outside the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, e.g. several employers from Posio. Furthermore, employers will have their say on the event stage.
On stage visitors and job seekers can see success stories of immigrants, how to market yourself as a job seeker in Finland, AI and HR and so on. Opening speech will be given by Director of Migration Affairs, Helsinki, Mr Glenn Gassen and welcome speech by patron, Member of Parliament, Mr Jarno Limnéll. Moderator of stage is Ira Hammermann, FreeHam Consulting Ltd.
You can, for example, make a job search video at the CV video bar at the event. Participating employers will receive links to all videos created at the event. The videos will be uploaded to the YouTube video service as hidden videos. As a jobseeker, you will receive a link to the video, which can also be used for job applications after the event.
– I call these videos shortcuts to job interviews, because they are an easy way to impress potential employers and be invited for interviews, executive producer Honkala says.
Participants should also bring with them their curriculum vitae (CV) on paper, so that it can be given to companies that show an interest. If it is not possible for you to bring your CV, a business card with contact information is a good option.
The Rekrytori for Internationals event will be held under this name for the second time now, and five thousand visitors are expected at the Cable Factory. The participants of the previous event provided the organizers with positive feedback. We also know that some participants were employed as a result of the event.
The event is being organized jointly by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tuusula and Järvenpää. The Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce, Business Finland, the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council, Helsinki University and The Shortcut are also among the organizers. The partners also include a number of companies, educational institutions and organizations. The event is being produced by Honkalamedia Oy.
